Best Cajun Food In Denver

🥘 The uber popular local Instagram account @denverfoodscenerecently spotlighted Loveland’s Betta Gumbo, calling out their jambalaya, shrimp boil, beignets, and Voodoo Juice cocktail: “You BETTA run not walk over to @bettagumboloveland … Walking in feels like you’re in the middle of a Mardi Gras party in the French Quarter

💜 The colors and atmosphere match the vibe of the authentic Louisiana cookin’ and the Jambalaya is unmatched!”

🦐 My recommendation? While I haven’t personally tried it yet, Lafayette’s (newish) Casian Seafood has been all over my foodie radar. Earlier this year, it was nominated as a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s 2022 “Best New Restaurant” award — an impressive feat for an independent, suburban restaurant that’s only about a year old. The restaurant’s website says it specializes in made-to-order seafood boils and authentic Hmong cuisine.



🥐 Producer Paul Karolyi’s take: “I don’t know if it’s technically Cajun, but whenever I’m craving the sights, smells, and tastes of New Orleans, I’ll inevitably end up at Lucille’s Creole Cafe on South Logan St. Founded in 1980 and now operating six locations across the Front Range, Lucille’s is about as reliable a brunch spot as you can find in Denver. The bloody marys are killer, and you can’t leave without trying at least one of their delicious biscuits.”

🦞 Host Bree Davies’ suggestions: “For a remixed take on Cajun, I’m a fan of Asian Cajun (which I mentioned in last week’s neighborhood profile of Athmar Park). Asian Cajun has classics like Po’ Boys, boils, and gumbo, but their fried rice and pasta dishes featuring any kind of seafood — I’m talking crawfish, shrimp, even lobster! — are where it’s at.”
