Denver’s most popular outdoor ice rink will not be returning to Skyline Park for the season. The city has shut it down for the next two winters while the park undergoes renovations. A beloved holiday tradition for many in the Mile High, where will Denverites skate now? Here are four other ice rinks worth a visit.

Cost: $6 per person ($15 with adult skate rental, $9 with child skate rental)
Open: Daily Nov. 28-Jan. 4, weekends only Jan. 5-25
Best for: Something in the city 🏙️
Located downtown, this ice rink in McGregor Square comes with all the festive city vibes. Before or after hitting the ice, grab a bite and a warm beverage, then do a little holiday shopping at the plaza’s restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Mark your calendars for the rink’s grand opening celebration on Nov. 28, complete with a tree-lighting and screening of “The Grinch.”

Best for: A unique experience ❄️
Skate your way through Parker’s Discovery Park on this winding ice path. Holiday decor and firepits line the trail. Warm up with coffee, cocoa, nachos, and other goodies at the concession stand. Season passes, punch passes, and group rentals are available.

Best for: The ‘gram 🤳
The Halcyon hotel in Cherry Creek offers a truly elevated ice skating experience with its rooftop rink and après lounge. In addition to the Insta-worthy views, skaters can sip on something from the bar, order snacks, and enjoy curated tunes for a “genuine European Alpine” event.

Best for: “Real deal” lake skating 🌲
This lake in Evergreen, surrounded by pines and frozen solid in the winter, is divided into multiple rinks for the season to accommodate recreational skaters and ice hockey games. It’s reportedly the largest Zamboni’d outdoor ice skating rink in the country! Have a large party? You can rent out an entire rink starting at $150.
