It’s another busy month in the Mile High! Enjoy the end of spring with our recommendations of what to do, where to eat, and how to support your neighborhood 🌤️🏘️🌸
🍩 Taste test unique mochinut flavors at MoCha
Located in Aurora, MoCha is named after two of the things it does best — mochinuts and matcha! I highly recommend the black sesame and taro flavored mochinuts and the iced matcha latte (which you can also get in strawberry, thai tea, banana, and taro flavors).
🪅 Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Hispanic market La Plaza
Looking for an unreal selection of Mexican candy, a place to celebrate Hispanic culture, and grab a tajín-rimmed margarita? La Plaza has it all! On May 4, the market will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo event with live music and lucha libre matches. But don’t worry — if you can’t make it, La Plaza’s calendar is packed with great events all spring and summer long.
🧸 Nurture your inner child at Talulah Jones
This Uptown store is a curated experience of toys, homegoods, trinkets, jewelry, and self-care treats offering something for all of the people in your life, including you! Producer Olivia Jewell Love says the selection of Jellycat stuffed toys is one of the best in Denver and the staff create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for shoppers.
🍺 Try Green Mountain Beer Company for your craft brew fix
This Lakewood brewery crafts European and American style beers with a menu that doesn’t just focus on IPAs — they also offer a variety of types of beers, seltzers, and non-alcoholic options. Chill out on their patio with mountain views and try whichever food truck is on rotation that night, or the brewery welcomes folks to bring their own food for the perfect pairing!
♻️ Organize an alley cleanup with your neighbors
Alleyways are an integral part of many Denver neighborhoods — but they can become unsightly collectors of trash, debris, and random dumping. Grab a few friends and some trash bags and give this off-street space the love it deserves with a quick weekend clean-up 🗑️
🧊 Support your local paletero
Nothing says “buy local” quite like snagging an icy treat from the paletero or ice cream truck cruising down your block 😋 From popsicles and cotton candy to elote and hot dogs, the Mile High has plenty of culinary purveyors to choose from. Can’t find one in your part of town? Head out to parks like Paco Sanchez, Huston Lake, and Sloans Lake, where many set up shop on busy weekends.
Psst! There’s even more where these came from! Tune into the City Cast Denver podcast for more recommendations! 👇
