Cooking with fresh and seasonal ingredients is one of the best ways to take your meals to the next level. Luckily for us Denverites, there are plenty of local options when it comes to Community Supported Agriculture subscriptions, also known as CSA shares. CSA shares allow you to buy directly from nearby farmers, whether you’re looking for fruits, veggies, meat, eggs, or dairy. Here are some shares to try!

Sprout City Farms offer a vegetable share featuring a variety of veggies, herbs, and flowers from their gardens at two locations. Feeling the egg price pinch? You can add an egg, meat, bread, or a dairy selection to your box. The Denver Green School share runs from June 18 to Oct. 16 with pick ups on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. The Jack’s Solar Garden share runs from June 5 to Oct. 20 with pick ups on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

If juicy peaches and crisp apples are more your thing, the Ela Family Farms fruit share is for you! The subscription runs from July to October and pick up locations can be found at the City Park Esplanade on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Old South Pearl Street Farmer’s Market on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There’s also a canning option for a selection of the farms’ “imperfect” fruit that can be used to make jams and jellies.

Another veggie option is the summer share from Miller Farms, which is a 20-week subscription that starts June 15 and features a wide variety of produce. This is a great option if you’re looking for an easy pickup, with Miller Farms hosting stands at more than a dozen farmers markets across the Front Range, from Pearl Street in Denver to Festival Park in Castle Rock — or choose home delivery for an extra fee.

This summer share is great for households of all sizes, with Monroe offering up anywhere from 10-60 pound orders of fruits and vegetables. They also have a handy list available showing the types of produce they offer and when they are in season. The share runs from June to October with pick up at six locations in Denver.

Whether you’re a dedicated meal-prepper or a home cook looking to expand your recipe horizons, CSA shares are a fun way to get creative in the kitchen while supporting local farmers and agriculture 🥕🧑‍🌾🍎
