With Earth Day celebrations on the brain, I’m thinking of ways to electrify my lifestyle — and so are state officials, with discounts and rebates aplenty to help Coloradans make the switch to a more energy-efficient way of living. From transportation options to lawn care to household appliances, going electric is easier than ever.
Lawn Equipment
Summer is just around the corner, and so is lawn care season. But one perk to this year’s yard work? A statewide 30% discount on electric lawnmowers, leaf blowers, weed trimmers, and other lawn tools is now available to all Coloradans at participating retailers. The discount will be applied at the register, no paperwork required.
Denver and Adams County residents are additionally eligible for a $300 voucher for an electric lawnmower when they trade in old gas-powered mowers at the Chambers Place Ace Hardware this Saturday, from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. This program is first-come, first-serve until the money runs out. (How’s that for making your grass greener?)
E-Bikes
The demand for electric-powered bicycles continues to soar. The City of Denver’s next round of vouchers will be released next Tuesday, April 30, at 11 a.m., but you have to act fast, as they get snatched up in minutes.
For the first time this year, the state is offering a $450 discount on e-bikes to all Colorado residents. Just take your pick from the list of participating retailers.
Everything Else!
It’s not just your leaf blowers and bicycles that state officials are hoping you’ll electrify — aid is available for electric cars, heat pumps, water heaters, stoves, and more. And now, finding that help is just a simple click away with a new online tool built by Google fellows and nonprofit Rewiring America.
All you have to do is answer a few questions about your household income and living situation, and the search engine will locate all local, state, and federal electric energy incentives that you qualify for.
