Get To Know Athmar Park

This week, host Bree Davies visits Athmar Park, a Denver neighborhood packed with great spots to eat and chill. Bordered by Federal Boulevard and I-25, there’s a lot to enjoy within this little slice of the Southwest side, so here are just a few of her favorites:



🫖 Somewhere To Sip And Snack: “If you heard our recent episode on the best coffee shops in Denver, you know that I can’t sing the praises of Vinh Xuong Bakery enough. If you’re in a snacking mood, try the flat bread, baked pork buns, sesame balls, or mooncakes. For a bigger appetite, the bánh mì goes the extra mile. Oh, and duh — their coffee is bomb! Vietnamese iced coffee is my treat year-round, but don’t sleep on Vinh Xuong’s selection of hot, iced, and milk teas.”

⛱️ Somewhere To Chill: “I’m a huge advocate for our amazing parks system, and Huston Lake Park is my go-to when I’m in Athmar. It’s a tiny but mighty greenspace with a partially-shaded walking trail, playground, and lake with plenty of wildlife to watch, not to mention the pickleball and half-court basketball amenities.”



🦀 Somewhere To Chow Down: “As the name implies, the Asian Cajun is a wonderful collision of cuisines, especially if you’re a seafood hound like me! From go-tos like grilled oysters and Korean dumplings to the wildly delicious spice profiles of their cajun pho and crawfish fried rice, this place is all about tasting something new. If the menu sounds a little too adventurous, a good place to start is their classic seafood boil — a mix of corn, potatoes, sausage, and a range of shellfish. But as with all boils, this massive meal is best shared with friends.”



🥊 Other Neighborhood Faves: “New Saigon’s lemongrass tofu noodle bowl (pro-tip: their menu is massive, so just ask for the 10N 😉); Tarascos is also a wonderful option for you veggie (and vegan!) diners, offering an expansive, plant-forward Mexican menu; Great Wall Supermarket — which many of you will know by it’s old name, Pacific Ocean Marketplace — for some of the freshest seafood in the city, not to mention amazing produce, walls of snacks, and a vast selection of frozen noodles and dumplings; Topeira Boxing Club for the best workout of your life (and they have a great boxing program for kids, too!).”
