This week, we’re venturing to Denver’s northeastern edge to explore the Central Park neighborhood (formerly known as Stapleton). Let’s go!
🛍️ Somewhere To Hang: The most obvious place to hit up when you’re in this area is the Stanley Marketplace (even though it's technically in Aurora). A collection of boutique shops and local food vendors, this little community hub gives you an expansive taste of the local flavor. Plus, it’s got a unique history as an aviation factory, back when the Stapleton Airport was still operating. (Check out my recommendations for what to eat and see at Stanley Marketplace.)
🎟️ Something To Do: For another shopping and dining option, stop by The Shops at Northfield. There are always a ton of fun events happening (holiday parties, movie screenings, goat yoga, etc.). Personally, I love to nab tickets on a Friday night for the Improv Comedy Theater — it’s always a good time!
🏞️ Somewhere To Escape To: If you need a break from all the hustle and bustle, you’re right on the doorstep of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Here, you can explore nearly 16,000 acres of trails, lakes, and grasslands that are home to bison, deer, raptors, and over 300 other species of animals.
🎅 For The Holidays: If you’re planning on taking photos with Santa this holiday season, City Cast Denver podcast host Bree Davies says the Old Saint Nick at Central Park’s Bass Pro Shops is the real deal, PLUS photos are free and online reservations mean no long lines!
🚌 Bonus: RTD’s A-Line commuter rail that runs from downtown Denver to DIA makes a stop in Central Park! A full day of fun in this northeastern neighborhood is just an easy-peasy bus ride away.
