The historically Black neighborhood was once known as the “Harlem of the West,” attracting some of the biggest Jazz musicians in the country. Walk around the neighborhood today and you may have to look hard for traces of that history. We caught up with the owners of Welton Street Cafe a few months ago to talk about navigating an evolving community. Despite all the changes, Five Points remains a vibrant neighborhood with great places to visit. Here are just a few of my favorites:

đŸ” TeaLee’s Tea House and Historic Bookstore: Lovely teahouse that also offers beer and wine.

đŸ©° Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company: Historic cultural icon honoring African diaspora through dance.

đŸ„Ș Curtis Park Deli: Locally sourced deli with fresh offerings and killer sandwiches.

🌼 La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal: Locally owned gem with great specials and unique mezcales.

đŸ›ïž Black American West Museum & Heritage Center: Organization showcasing the contributions of African Americans to the West.

🍜 Osaka Ramen: Chef Jeff Osaka’s ramen is perfect for cold days.

👖 Big Sky Supply: Vintage shop tucked behind Crema featuring one-of-a-kind finds.

🧘 Urban Sanctuary: An inviting destination for yoga classes and overall wellness housed in a building with historical origins.

đŸ„ƒ 715 Club: Neighborhood bar with events and a patio window to late-night pizza.

đŸ”Ș Carbon Knife Company: Knife and kitchen accessory shop with everything you needto feed your pandemic-era cooking obsessions.

😋 SuperMegaBien: Get a taste of Casa Bonita’s Executive Chef Dana Rodriguez’s culinary chops.
