West Colfax has been growing and changing quite a bit in the last few years, with new developments and national chains moving into the famously unique Mile High main street. A new documentary from the City of Denver’s Office of Storytelling explores the community’s Russian and German Jewish roots – which inspired us to take a deeper look at the West Colfax neighborhood of today.

☕ Brew Culture Coffee

This West Colfax hangout invites coffee connoisseurs, kombucha devotees, and chai lovers to take in a robust menu of unique, locally-crafted flavors. Soaring windows, fresh flowers, and plenty of seating options make Brew Culture a great place to sip, study, or settle in with friends.

🛁 Lake Steam Baths

A remaining vestige of the old Westside community, this Russian bath house offers massages, steams, scrubs, and other specialty spa services. The nearly 100-year-old self-care institution has specific days of the week devoted to men and women, so be sure to check the schedule before visiting.

🌮 Los Mesones

A defining taste of West Colfax, Los Mesones has been serving up its own style of Mexican food since 2006. From Micheladas to aguas frescas, tres leches to flan, and every kind of taco you can imagine, this beloved neighborhood spot’s vast menu is a can’t-miss.

🎞️ Alamo Drafthouse

The Texas-born chain’s movie calendar is packed with the latest blockbusters — plus cult classics, independent releases, and of course, its signature “movie parties” featuring beloved films paired with interactive moments, special games and props, and themed menus.

🍨 Little Man Ice Cream Factory

Watch the ice cream get made at Little Man’s flagship West Colfax location which serves as a production facility, tasting bar, and old-fashioned creamery. Sit back and enjoy a signature scoop of Salted Oreo as conveyor belts move icy treats throughout the factory or brave the handcrafted slide that serves as the centerpiece of this magical space.

  • But is it the best ice cream in Denver? We taste-tested and picked our fave. [City Cast Denver 🎧]
