The metro Denver city of Westminster is no tiny pocket town. This ‘hood in the ‘burbs spans across Adams and Jefferson counties and ranks as the ninth most populous city in Colorado, which means there is plenty to explore. But if you’re just getting to know the area, here are some good places to start.

🦋 Butterfly Pavilion

This Colorado institution dedicated to the study and conservation of bugs, beetles, butterflies, crustaceans, and other important invertebrates is the perfect family outing, offering hands-on, educational experiences like beekeeping bootcamp, adults-only rainforest yoga, and butterfly identification.

🍛 Yak & Yeti

With five locations across the metro, this homegrown brand for Indian fare has become a dining staple for real deal tandoori, samosas, masala, saag, koftas and way more.

🛍️ Orchard Town Center

For the marathon shoppers out there, Orchard Town Center is a charming outdoor mall with more than 80 popular retailers to choose from. Need to refuel? Take your pick from sushi, pizza, burgers, or sandwiches. Want to make a whole day of it? Catch a movie at the AMC, practice your ax-throwing, or grab an easel at Whimsy Paint & Sip.

🏞️ Standley Lake Regional Park

Expanding over 3,000 acres of unincorporated Jefferson County and home to Metro Denver’s third-largest reservoir, Standley Lake Regional Park has something to offer every type of nature-lover — from paddle boarding and fishing to tent camping and wildlife programming.

🏛️ Bowles House Museum

History buffs and architecture aficionados can get their fix with a visit to the historic Bowles House. Now a museum, the 1871 Italianate farmhouse is noted as one of the state’s earliest and most detailed examples of this architectural style.
