Next month marks the return of Civic Center EATS, Denver’s uber popular summer food truck series at Civic Center Park. But this season, there will be even more places to get your food truck fix as Denver Parks and Rec kicks off a brand new food truck series called Feast in Denver’s Nature. For its pilot year, the program will take place in two spots: West Colfax’s Paco Sanchez Park and — Wash Park! Here’s a little more about the area.
The Park!
Obviously, the star attraction in the Wash Park neighborhood is, well, Washington Park. The 165 acres of public space features two large lakes — where you can float, boat, and fish — as well as winding trails, flower gardens, shady trees, expansive green spaces, picnic areas, and basketball / tennis courts.
Shop, Sip, Dine
Whether you’re out on the town for date night, up for a boutique shopping spree, or seeking a leisurely Sunday stroll, Historic South Gaylord is where you want to be. Located in the heart of the Wash Park neighborhood, this quaint block chock-full of artisan shops and buzzy restaurants is the hub of the community. Check out the South Gaylord event calendar for upcoming community events.

Visit ‘Pleasant Hill’
In the 1920s, George W. Olinger began collecting property on the land that now straddles Wash Park and the Belcaro neighborhood. Olinger hoped to create something akin to a “peaceful Scottish Village,” and thus we got Bonnie Brae (which translates to “pleasant hill” in Gaelic). It’s something entirely different from the rest of the city, filled with charm and aesthetic from another time — oh, and some of the city’s best ice cream.
