This week on Denver’s dining scene: last minute brunch plans with mom, not-so-spicy food for new arrivals, and Civic Center Eats returns.
🍔 Misfit Is On the Move
After five years of slinging adventurous bar food at Middleman, Misfit Snack Bar owner Bo Porytko says the concept is leaving the East Colfax bar at the end of May to look for its own brick-and-mortar location with an expanded menu. The tiny kitchen at Middleman will begin rotating chefs once Misfit departs. [Denver Post]
💐 Celebrate Mom
For all the last-minute planners: Our homies at 5280 have a list of the best Mother’s Day brunches around Denver. Just be aware that finding reservations will get more difficult the longer you wait. [5280]
🥟 Feeding New Arrivals
Maria Empanada is launching a program to donate $25,000 worth of empanadas to the migrant shelter at the Quality Inn off Speer Blvd. Owner Lorena Cantarovici said she identifies with the mostly-Venezuelan families arriving in Denver and hopes to provide them with the not-so-spicy flavors of home.
