For many Denverites, the holiday season is tamale season! This cherished Mexican tradition of celebrating year-end festivities with heaping plates of handmade tamales means bulk orders from Denver’s best tamale kitchens are filling up fast. So we’re sharing some of our favorite local tamale shops that are still taking orders for this seasonal treat! 🫔

An eastside favorite, this creamery has been a Denver Mexican food staple since 1969. Their holiday rellenos and tamales (red or green!) can be ordered by the half or full dozen in-person.

A beloved year-round tamale fave, you can order tamales in bulk for any occasion. Take your pick from red or green, medium or spicy — plus check out their specialty sweet options with raisins, nuts, coconut, and pineapple. Holiday tamales here sell out fast, so order soon!

Churning out 18,000 tamales a day, this Northside masa empire is so popular that pre-ordering is unavailable during the holiday season. Tamales — green, red, or a mix of both by the half or full dozen — can only be purchased in-person on a first-come, first-served basis.

On top of their handmade tamales, this Northside neighborhood tortilleria is also offering fresh tortillas, empanadas, and salsas for your holiday gatherings this season. Swing by in person or call ahead to place your order.

With locations in Arvada and Lakewood, this local family-owned operation has amassed a loyal following over the last three decades for their made-from-scratch tamales prepared daily. Holiday orders from either location can be placed in-person or online (advanced ordering is strongly recommended). Walk-in orders will also be available on Christmas Eve on a first-come, first-served basis.
